Publishing information: (Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, April 22, 2004, Ages 4-8)
Number of Pages: 32 pages
Genre: Fiction styled (with nonfictional information)
Summary of Plot:
This book was about two girls and a boy who act like animals. The first and last page are illustrations of the kids, the rest are of animals. They ask questions such as if you can do various moves that animals do, like jump, crawl, blink fast, etc. At the bottom of each page, there is a sentence about the animal they are trying to act like. Bats, owls, and hummingbirds are some of the animals mentioned.
My Reaction to the book:
This book was kind of weird. Kids deserve to know more information about these animals than how they move. This book was very, very basic. It could have been a lot more informative and still be grade level appropriate. I liked how the illustrations were bright.
Potential Problems:
This book may energize some kids to behave wildly at a time where they aren’t supposed to. Other than that, there are no issues.
Recommendations:
I wouldn’t really recommend this book. It was boring. Brian Lies is a good illustrator; the pictures were the best part. There are much better books about animals than this. However, it did have a clever title. It was kind of abstract.
