Summary of Plot:
This book was about a boy who writes poetry, but doesn’t want his name on them sometimes, but sometimes he does. This all happens in contradiction to his original thought that poetry was for girls. Some days his poetry got hung up, read or shared with a famous poet. That poet ends up coming to the boy’s class and talking about poetry. He also got to read the boy’s poem that was inspired by his work. His name was Walter Dean Myers.
My Reaction to the book:
My initial reaction to the book was that it was strange-very strange. I did not like it a lot. After I grasped the plot concept, it became much more clear, and kind of fun. I still think it is a little strange, but it’s very clever how the book’s plot is about poems, and it is in the format of poetry.
Potential Problems:
None
Recommendations:
I think people that like poetry would like it. The plot is simple, and unique. I believe in what the boy found out, that poetry is for both genders. This book deserves a chance to be read, at least once by a person.
